Nakiyadeniya Oil Palm Mill

As a one of the leading plantations company in sri Lanka we carried out our plantations under three sectors such as Tea,Rubber and oil palm. Watawala Plantations PLC has oil palm plantations in Southern part of the country and it owned the largest Oil Palm Mill in Sri Lanka which has the advanced technology.It is located in Nakiyadeniya in Galle District.

Oil palm was introduced to Sri Lanka from Malaysia in late ninteen sixties.As of now,after approximately three and a half decades,it has spread over 10000 acres of the southern part of the island.

Nakiyadeniya oil plam mill is produced different types of palm oil such as Crude Plam Oil,Palm Kernel Oil,Palm Kernel Cake,R.B.D Palm Olein,R.B.D.Palm Stearine and other.The Oil mill takes the Oil Palm from our plantations and produce high quality palm oil.Oil Palm mill is harvested as bunch of Oil Palm fruits to produce palm oil.

Milling Process

Main products of the manufacturing process such as crude palm oil, palm kernel oil and kernel cake are produced as noted in the following diagram. Input to the process are fresh fruit bunches, water to the boiler for steam generation, electricity and human including some intangibles as knowledge, skills and information etc. 

Our Palm Oil mill installed new machines to assure the high quality at a lower cost.In addition to that we auto mated our lot activities using technology because one of our objective is to reduce the human errors.Currently our mill has  22% productivity and by using this machines it is expected to increase to 24%.To get the competitive advantage among others our mill is continuously practicing the tests of quality assurance.It leads to have good quality within our products.Our main client is "Oliate" brand and the mill has separate refinery system for it.

Moreover being an agricultural enterprise the mill is practicing innovative and effective agricultural and processing technologies in environmental sustainability manner.
